Know how to verify the temperature of the processor and the motherboard on the Linux CentOS.

This method can be used to verify your server`s temperature and with this you will be able to dedect possible problems caused by overheating. This method was performed in the Linux CentOS 6.7, however, in other versions, it can change the sequency in the step-by-step .

*Remembering that it`s the IT Administrator`s the entire responsibility of analyse and execute these commands. To execute the proccedure, you need to have a login with a special permission. Be careful.

 

  1. First we are going to see if the package is installed in your computer.
  2. After you *loging  in your server, type sensors and press <Enter>.
  3. If the package is installed it will show the temperatura of each processor`s core, beyond the temperatura of the motherboard`s chipset, and in case any error occur, perform the installation of the pakcage “lm_sensors” in your server.
  4. Type yum -y install lm_sensors and press <Enter>.
  5. After the package installation type sensors-detect and press <Enter>, type YES and press <Enter> in all options or in thet ones you`d like.
  6. After finish the proccedure above, type sensors and press <Enter>.
  7. Done. It will appear all the temperatures of the existing sensors in your server, and it will normally appear the motherboard`s temperature (temp 1 and temp2), ando f the processors`cores (core 0, core 1, etc). With this command we can analyse the Server`s components` temperatures, preserving the component`s lifetime.
