Excel – Shopping List #21BRTutorial

Excel - Criar uma lista simples

Excel

Know how to create a simple shopping list in a spreadsheet in Excel 2007. This method can be used to create many types of lists, and in this example we are going to use a shopping list to help in the  New Year`s Eve`s barbecue. This method was performed in the Microsoft Excel 2007, but, however, in other versions it can occur some changes in the step-by-step sequency.

  1. Open the Microsoft Excel. We can find it pressing the Keys “Windows + R” and typing “EXCEL.EXE”. Press <ENTER>.
  2. It will open na empty Excel spreadsheet. In this tutorial we are going to use two math basics operation (additon (+) and multiplication (*)) in the formulas of some fileds.
  3. Now we are going to insert the data o four list.
  4. Click once in the first “rectangle (cell)”, located in the spreadsheet`s first position (A1). The letter “A” it`s the spreadsheet`s column, and the number “1” it`s the spreadsheet`s line. With the junction of the two characters we can find ourselves in the spreadsheet, and then type “shopping list” and press <ENTER>.
  5. In each column we are going to describe what all o four data are going to represent:

In the rectangle A2 (column A, line 2), type “DESCRIPTION” and press <ENTER>.

In the rectangle B2 (column B, line 2), type “AMOUNT” and press <ENTER>.

In the rectangle C2 (column C, line 2) type “QUANTITY” and press <ENTER>.

In the rectangle D2 (column D, line 2) type “TOTAL AMOUNT” ans press <ENTER>.

  1. In this moment, the rectangles are going to be superposed. Click twice with the left mouse`s button between each column (A ] B ] C ] D, click twice in ] ) to adjust the content`s size of each rectangle.
  2. Now we are going to select the format that is going to appear in a specific rectangle or in all of the rectangles in the whole column. Click on the B column ([B]), and click on the icon of a bank note and a coin, situated in the center of the screen, below “general”. Each time it has a number in the rectangle, it will show “reais” or another Money.
  3. Perform the same procedure of the step 7 in the D column.
  4. We are going to type two goods as example, remembering that it can be used for any type of list (gift, supermarket, tools, etc).

In the rectangle A3 (Column A, Line 3) type “SODA” and press <ENTER>

In the rectangle B3 (Column B, Line 3) type “4,99” and press <ENTER>

In the rectangle C3 (Column C, Line 3) type “3” and press <ENTER>

  1. In the “total amount” we are goint to insert our first formula and in this case we use the multiplication (*).
  2. Select the rectangle D3 and type the = sign. Click with the left mouse`s button in the rectangle C3 (it will turn into =C3), type * , select the rectangle B3 and press <ENTER>. In the rectangle D3 (column D, line 3), type “=D3*B3” and press <ENTER>.
  3. After this procedure, anytime you are going to change the quantity or the amount of the goods, the total amount will change automatically.
  4. We can perform the same procedure from the step 9 to step 11 to add the other goods, remembering the rectangles will change, im going to add another goods/products.

In the rectangle A4 (Column A, Line 4) type “MEAT” and press <ENTER>

In the rectangle B4 (Column B, Line 4) type “29,99” and press <ENTER>

In the rectangle C4 (Column C, Line 4) type “5” and press <ENTER>

  1. In the “total amount” we can follow the step 11, remembering of changing D3 to D4 and C3 to C4, or select the D rectangle, click on the black square located in the low left corner of the “cell”, hold and drag the pointer down untill all the items in your list end, and then, the formula is going to be set in the rectangle.
  2. In the sum of all the values in the “Total Amount” column, second formula, we are going to use the addition (+).
  3. After finish all items, click on the “cell” below the last valid “cell/rectangle” (with a goods total amount), type =SUM(D3:D4) and press <ENTER>, remembering that the D4 cell is the last valid cell of my list, so if you have more items you will need to put the last valid cell of your list.
  4. We can use the shortcut AUTOSUM. Press the key <ALT> + the key < = > and then press the key <ENTER>. It will be the same procedure of the step 15.
  5. Our list is done with the basic functions and in the design issue, we can change the fontface of each cell/rectangle, to set another color in the cells, among others. Gradually new tutorials will be posted to cover all details of each Excel`s 2007 operation.
