Knows how to verify which updates are installed in your Windows 7.
This method can be use to verify if the update “KB4012212” is installed in your Windows 7. It`s important this update to be in your computer because there is a vulnerability which has resulted in a virtual attack that affected many computers in a global scale, causing prejudice to many companies because of this Windows` vulnerability.
This method was performed in Windows 7 SP1 X86 and X84, however, in other versions, it can change some step-by-step sequency.
*Remembering that it`s the entire responsibility of the IT Administrator to execute these commands. To perform this procedure it can be used a common user, but you can also use a login with special permission. Use it carefully.
- First, perform a backup of all importante files in your computer in another place (external HD, Pen Drive, etc), and now we are going to verify of the update “KB4012212” is installed in your Windows 7 x86 (32 bits) or x64 (64 bits).
- Click in the Start button > Control Panel > Windows Update, and click in “ Display Updating Historic”, located on the left corner of the screen, and in this moment verify if the update “KB4012212” is installed in your computer.
- In case you don`t find the update, lets perform the download to install it in your Windows.
- Lets verify your Windows 7 architecture. Press the key <WINDOWS> + <PAUSE BREAK> or click in the Star button > Control Panel > Systems, and then, in this moment, find “System`s Type”. If there is “32 bits Operating System”, do the update related to Windows 7 x86, and if there is “64 bits Operating System”, do the update related to Windows 7 x64.
- In this same screen, verify if just below the of your Windows version (Home, Professional, Ultimate, etc) it`s written “Service Pack 1”, because if it`s not, you will have to update your Windows and install it, and in this case, I advise you to verify carefully all the updates selected because you can end installing something you don`t want to. After “Service Pack 1” installation, go forward with the “KB4012212” update`s installation.
- The update “KB4012212” can be downloaded in http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=kb4012212 and the version for Windows 7 x86 is: “Quality update just for security of Windows 7 (KB4012212) on March 2017”. The update for Windows x64 version is: “Quality update for security of Windows 7 for systems based on x64 (KB4011222) on March 2017”. After you chose the desired version, click on “transfer” and click in the link to downloa the update.
- After download the update, click twice to execute the file.
- Click in “Yes” and if occur some compatibility error, verify if the Windows 7 version is 32bits (x86) or 64bits and if the Service Pack 1 is installed.
- Save all the opened files and click in “Restart Now”.
- Done! The update is successfully installed in your computer.
Precautions:
- Have an antivírus installed and updated in your computer.
- Scan your computer currently.
- Don`t click in links or download files you don`t know
- Anytime you connect your pen drive in another computer, scan it befora open it (clicking twice)
- Be carefull when you connect in public Wi-Fi (Bars, Hotels, restaurants or places that don`t have password to connect) because depending on the security policy applied in the router, everybody who connect can be vulnerable to access in your device (celphones, notebooks, etc).
- Always have an updated backup of all important documents (photos, receipts and others) in anothe place (external HD, Pen Drive, etc).
